Ukraine Power Resources (UPR) is one of the latest in the line of renewable energy companies, which has already successfully developed 2.4 GW of wind power capacity in seven countries. UPR is an affiliate of First Summit Energy, founded by Peter A. Gish in 2017 to develop renewable energy projects that have extremely positive growth dynamics in emerging markets. The mission of UPR’s Corporate and Social Responsibility Program (CSR) is focused on producing reliable and sustainable clean energy from clean renewable energy projects developed in collaboration with rural communities in Ukraine. MTB participated in the management of the general occupational safety area of the Dnistrovskyi wind farm project on behalf of UPR. The project is located in the Odessa region of southwestern Ukraine, where we have built 9 wind turbines with a total capacity of 100 MW.
- Two HSE persons were involved in the project; one was a local safety representative (HSE officer) who was supervising the construction site from a safety point of view, and the other was a Hungarian HSE manager who had control over the HSE officer and led the Occupational Health and Safety Organization and department
- Checking the workers’ obligatory documents prior to the start of work
- Conducting safety trainings prior to the start of work, and emergency safety trainings if need be
- Preparation of safety and social and environmental protection documentation such as, occupational health and safety plan, emergency preparedness response plan, traffic management plan, penalty and rewarding systems, waste and hazardous waste management plan, pollution prevention management plan and noise management plan
- Ensured that the subcontractors are complying with the local safety regulations and with UPR’s above mentioned plans and procedures
- Preparing daily and weekly safety reports based on the daily inspections on the construction site
- Take immediate corrective action in case of violation against the rules of safety, environment or waste
- Eliminate hazards and risks immediately on site, to achieve one of the main Occupational Health and Safety aim, the goal of zero-injury during the construction
- Making proposals and implement of those in order to increase the general level of occupational safety and health
- Leading the community of occupational health and safety
