With approximately 34 GW of installed generation capacity, Uniper is among the largest global power producers. Thanks to its substantial share of hydropower plants and gas-fired units, its production portfolio is particularly environmentally friendly. In addition to electricity, they also generate gas and compressed air for industrial use, as well as heat for thousands of households. In Hungary, they operate a gas turbine power plant in Gönyű, near Győr, with a net capacity of 428 MW. This allows them to reliably and sustainably supply more than 600,000 homes in Northwestern Hungary.

The maintenance of the power plant requires roughly 250 personnel, of which MTB provides 3 staff members during the day (including 1 scaffolding specialist) and 1 staff member during the night. Their responsibilities include coordinating and supervising major maintenance activities from an occupational safety perspective. These activities include: complete disassembly of the turbine system, cleaning, replacement of components, replacement of pipe insulation, replacement of worn fittings, cleaning of tanks and piping systems, and replacing sensors.

MTB’s responsibilities:

  • Occupational safety inspections of the work area and execution of necessary safety measures

  • Reporting deficiencies, issues, and implemented actions identified during daily site walks, including photographic documentation

  • Reporting observations and recommendations related to normal operations, supported with photos

  • Implementing the penalty and reward system

  • Conducting ad-hoc occupational safety training sessions

  • Reviewing the Safety and Health Protection Plan and adjusting it to the current project status

  • Coordinating simultaneous and successive work activities

  • Inspecting, taking over, and continuously monitoring completed scaffolding structures
